Gnu Tutor: No double - Take Gnu Tutor: No double - Take

In this section I show examples about Gnu's mistaking at doubling decisions. All I do say here depends on my meaning about that subject - of course.

Gnu's tutor: No double - take. Gnu's tutor: No double - take.

An indirect 4-pt-prime is a barrier, which is hard to get over.

Allways keep in mind: The player who gives the double is on roll.

White does not have too much chances to close the 18-pt, but even he does, White's checkers on 13pt and 9pt give White more than 37 pips <time>.

This is a double on White's side and hardly a take.

Gnu's tutor states: No Double - Take.

My meaning:

White does have a solid double - Black should pass.

Facts:

(1)

White does lead 17 pips in the race plus 8.5 pips calculating for being on roll.

(2)

Black does not control the sector 2+1 Pt. This does give White the possiublillity to play bad rolls to his 2pt and 1pt.

(3)

White does have some hit-and-close-potential which could lead to a gammon.

Gnus tutor: White to double - take. Gnus tutor: White to double - take.

Pass.

Too good for a double? Too good for a double?

Gnu's tutor: "Too good for a double - just play for a gammon".

My meaning: White's position is not too bad. White has a good timing. White can wait for a shot, which will happen soon, if Black does not get a 6+1, 1+1 or a hit-and-pass-roll (1+2, 1+3, 1+4, 6+2, 6+3, 6+4) - a total of <15 rolls out from 36>. There is a Gammon-Chance for White, but I as white would cash the point or be happy if my opponent goes for the chance.

As Black I would take this double and re-double immediately, if trailing 5:1 in a match to 7.

Too early for a first double? Too early for a first double?

Gnu's tutor: "Too early for a double"

My meaning:

There are some shots on White's side, which could lead to a gammon: 6+2, 6+3, 6+4, 4+3, 4+2, 3.2, , 4+4, 3+3  and 2+2 will hit and close on the 4Pt. I would defenitely double now before <loosing the market>.

It is a very close take for black because of the gammon-chance.
